Restoring Show Data

ShowPro has a built in backup feature. Every time you exit ShowPro you will be given an opportunity to perform a backup. You should definitely make it a point to backup frequently. Sooner or later, for one reason or another you will need to restore a backup, so backup frequently. If you are networking multiple computers together, the backup must be performed on the host computer.

When you exit ShowPro you are always given an opportunity to perform a backup. You can also select Perform Backup at any time from the Data menu.

To perform a backup click the Backup button. To Skip the backup click Cancel.

A backup should be performed at regular intervals throughout the creation of a show and the show itself.

  • After the classes are configured
  • After any significant number of entries have been configured
  • At regular intervals throughout the show

 

Note: Backups by default are stored on the C drive in a folder that corresponds to the name of your currently selected database. You should backup at regular intervals to a CD or other removeable media.

Each time you do a backup a new image of the files is created; the previous backup is not overwritten.

Note: Restoring show data will cause you to lose any changes that have been made subsequent to your last backup.

To restore show data, run ShowPro, do not select an organization, then click...

This will cause a standard Windows File Open dialog to appear like this:

The files are named with the time and date the backup occurred. Most likely you would select the most recent file.

Highlight the desired file and click Open. The files will be restored.

If you decide not to do the restore press Cancel.
